During another edition of the radio program “Let’s Talk About Health,” Dr. Iracelma Mungulo clarified frequently asked questions about breastfeeding, highlighting the issue of the baby’s thirst and the influence of the mother’s age on milk production.

According to the specialist, breast milk is complete and contains all the water necessary for the baby, even in hot climates, and the introduction of water is not recommended in the first six months of life. “When the baby breastfeeds on demand, he receives sufficient hydration through the milk itself,” she explained.

Regarding maternal age, Dr. Iracelma Mungulo stated that age, in itself, does not interfere with the quantity or quality of breast milk. The most important thing is frequent breast stimulation, correct latch, and monitoring by healthcare professionals.

The doctor also emphasized that family support, the mother’s confidence, and proper guidance are decisive factors for the success of breastfeeding.

Exclusive breastfeeding until six months continues to be recommended as it guarantees fundamental benefits for the baby’s growth and health.
