As part of the Yellow and Blue September celebrations, a month dedicated to raising awareness about mental health, suicide prevention, and the value of sign language and deaf people, the Liberatos Group, in partnership with the Huíla Provincial Government, promoted the first September edition of the “Vamos Falar de Saúde” program.

The edition featured Dr. Eurídice Chongolola, gynecologist and General Director of the Irene Neto Maternity Hospital in Lubango, who addressed issues related to family planning and reproductive health.

Family Planning: Conscious Choices for the Future

During the interview, the specialist highlighted the importance of family planning as a tool to help women, men, and families make conscious decisions about reproduction, allowing them to plan a desired pregnancy and better prepare for the future.

One of the main topics addressed was teenage pregnancy, which the doctor classified as a social problem requiring prevention, education, and a joint intervention from the entire community.

For the specialist, preventing early pregnancy requires greater awareness among adolescents, families, schools, healthcare professionals, and society in general.

Reproductive health and pregnancy in adulthood

Dr. Eurídice Chongolola also spoke about pregnancy in adulthood, sharing a personal and inspiring testimony. The doctor revealed that, at age 50, she allowed herself to become pregnant, using the experience to encourage women to better understand their own bodies and metabolism.

The specialist argued that self-knowledge and medical monitoring are fundamental so that each woman can make informed decisions about her health and reproductive life.

Vasectomy, Fatherhood, and Birth Rates in Angola

The conversation also touched on topics such as vasectomy, responsibility in fatherhood, and what the specialist considers to be challenges related to the avoidance of fatherhood today.

Another point highlighted was the birth rates in Angola, with particular attention to the Huíla province. The subject was also addressed with a moment of lightheartedness, when the doctor, in a humorous tone, joked about the possibility that the region’s characteristically cold climate might have some influence on the phenomenon.
