In the second edition of the August program “Vamos Falar de Saúde” promoted by the Liberatos Group, Radio Huíla welcomed Dr. Victória José, a specialist in Neonatology, for an enlightening conversation about breastfeeding and child health.
During her presentation, the doctor debunked several popular myths, emphasizing that “there is no such thing as weak breast milk.” The specialist reinforced that breast milk has the exact nutritional composition that the newborn needs, functioning as the baby’s first vaccine by providing crucial antibodies against infections.
Dr. Victória José emphasized that breast milk should be the exclusive food for the first six months of life, highlighting the benefits of breastfeeding both for the child—preventing gastrointestinal diseases and allergies—and for the mother, by promoting postpartum recovery and reducing the risk of breast cancer. She also explained how to identify the correct latch for the baby, ensuring effective and painless breastfeeding.
